Honey, You’ve got a Big “Storm Comin'”: NGW, Singfest, and More!

As the ladies of VWC embark on spring break, here’s a brief recap of everything we have accomplished thus far! The first part of this semester has been an absolute whirlwind, but we’ve been having a blast bonding, performing, and preparing for our upcoming spring concert (buy your tickets from our website today)!

NEW GIRLS!!!

We kicked off the semester by welcoming in four amazing new Vdubz: Madison, Mary Cate, Izzy, and Pranavi. Our new girls were welcomed with hot takes and pancakes, as well as many other fun surprises during new girl week.

And, of course, we concluded new girl week with new girl night: a favorite VWC tradition.

Not only did our new girls get their extremely aesthetic chorus folders…

…they also got to meet their bigs!

Other Sisterhood Bonding

A few members of VWC took a trip downtown to visit the Galentine’s market and support female-owned small businesses, and we found a cute coffee shop while we were at it! We also couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get a group photo at the free photobooth.

Recent performances

Believe it or not, we’ve already been performing this semester. We were so fortunate to be invited to sing the national anthem for UVA’s women’s basketball game against Duke on National Girls and Women in Sports Day. What’s a better way to celebrate than with women at UVA supporting other women at UVA?

We were also so fortunate to be invited by our brother group, the Glee Club, to sing at Singfest in mid-February. VWC performed an arrangement of “And So it Goes” by Billy Joel, a favorite from our repertoire, and “Storm Comin'” by the Wailin’ Jennys (ah, now the blog post’s title makes sense). This was a great first concert of the semester, and we’re looking forward to showcasing more of our talent at our big concert in April!
