#4thWAV and October Updates!

Before I begin my WAV update, I would just like to say that I spent an unnecessarily long time trying to come up with a witty blog post title, but to no avail. It seems that my ability to make good puns seems to be WAVering a little bit (ba dum tss).

Anyhoo…

On to a brief WAV recap! We had a fantastic fourth annual Women Against Violence concert and are so fortunate that so many talented groups came out to join us in supporting the International Rescue Committee. We are thrilled to announce that we donated a total of $570 to the organization!

This year’s WAV also marked the debut of brand-new merch (pictured, in a slightly wrinkled state, below) and the addition of a bake sale fundraiser, both of which, in my completely biased opinion, were a huge hit!

A total of eight groups, including us, performed at the event. To close off the night, Ellis Butler led all of the groups and the audience (who probably didn’t think that they were going to be participating in the concert that evening) in a rendition of “Try a Little Kindness” by Glenn Cambell. Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper event at UVA if we didn’t also sing “The Good Old Song.”

VWC will be coming to voicemail boxes near you as we hold our Annual Fund drive this week! Before long, we’ll also be publicizing our Candlelight Concerts, which are rapidly approaching. I think we’ve started to bring about cooler weather with all of our singing about snow and the winter season in rehearsals!

Miss WAV or want a sneak peek of our Candlelight Concert repertoire? We’ll be performing at the Choral Family Weekend Showcase on October 18th. You don’t have to be a family member of any of our Vdubz to come and listen!
